Sandra is a mother of two children whom she breastfed, but not without difficulty. After her second child was born, a local midwife suggested she train to be a breastfeeding counsellor, and get involved in helping other mothers to breastfeed. That was in 2001 and she hasn't looked back, leaving a career in banking and insurance behind!
She qualified in 2002 with the Association of Breastfeeing Mothers (ABM), and is currently Co-Chair of the charity. In addition to volunteering with the charity, she has been working on NHS funded projects in South Bristol, facilitating breastfeeding groups and training peer supporters. She has experience of antenatal education, delivering workshops in schools, and one to one consultations in NHS breastfeeding clinics.
In 2011 she sat and passed the International Board Certified Lactation Consultants exam, which allows her to work in private practice, offering consultations. She can help you overcome breastfeeding challenges by working out why they have happened, and then suggest steps to put things right.

"I believe in breastfeeding. I know that most mothers feel breastfeeding is important, yet many do not have a positive experience. I want to support those women who value the importance of breastfeeding, so that they can feed for as long as they want to. They've been growing their baby on the inside for around 9 months, and I want to help them grow their baby on the outside too!"
