Counselling - Adults
Having a family is associated with excitement, joy, fulfilment, and expectation. When things go well, it can be all of these things.
Being a parent - or aiming to be a parent - can also bring strains and pain. Everything changes: work-life balance; time for yourself; you-me partner time; income levels; worries about parenting style; sleep & hormonal changes. These changes can have a detrimental impact on your wellbeing and/or relationship, leaving you feeling stressed & anxious, disempowered, with a low sense of worth, depressed, lonely.
Sadly, parenting sometimes brings devastating loss, such as with infertility and infant death, or with the witnessing of your child struggling with health, learning needs or behavioural issues.
Some of the areas that people having children seek help with include:
- Relationship difficulties and affairs
- Stress and Concerns about parenting eg outburst of anger
- Depression (including post natal)
- Infertility or troubles conceiving; miscarriage; abortion
- Bereavement: stillbirth & cot death; infant or child death
- Children's health or special needs
